About Hanover NH Hanover is located on the western side of New Hampshire in the scenic Upper Connecticut River Valley. The river forms the border between Vermont and New Hampshire. The town has a population of approximately 10,000 residents and is the home of Dartmouth College. Established in 1769, Dartmouth is the nation's ninth oldest college and the last institution of higher learning established under Colonial rule.
